Meridian Fibers is an eCommerce store that sells fabric and textiles for homes and businesses. They worked with CodeClouds to design and create an eCommerce store that would meet their specific needs when it comes to selling various fabrics and textiles.

Requirements

Meridian Fibers required a custom eCommerce store where they would be selling high-end fabrics, prints, decor, wallpaper, and more. They wanted to build their store on WordPress with WooCommerce where they could manage products, orders, and their customers easily. Their objective was to enhance their current website to showcase all of their product variants in a very neat and tidy way.

Challenges

The main challenge was listing the products in a way that customers could see the variants of a specific product pattern along with the different available colors. Additionally, the price of a variant depends on the size and fabric type.

Another challenge was to display each product category on a separate page with a different layout since the dimensions of the product images are different.

Solutions

We resolved the main challenge by using advanced custom fields within WordPress to group attributes and their respective pricing. This allows the customer to see the specific cost for a pattern variant, its size and fabric-type combination.

WordPress was chosen as the client was familiar with the system. We created custom templates for different product categories to maintain the design needs of the website.

Filtering on the product list page was a bit tricky as we had to filter the variant on that page. Our solution was to make an advanced custom filter to satisfy the requirements.

Results

As a result, we built a very user-friendly interface where customers could easily select products based on their color, pattern, size and type of fabric.

The website is hosted in Kinsta so the performance of the website is well optimized, and there is a very high standard of security. We also used an additional security plugin to ensure the site is even more secure.
